Urinary Tract Infection

WebPage_UTIAcute uncomplicated cystitis is common and easily recognized in the ED.  Antibiotic treatment recommendations have changed for this frequent diagnosis.  Complicated urinary tract infections (UTIs) are associated with underlying neurologic, structural, or medical problems.  Pyelonephritis should be recognized in patients presenting with fever, chills, and flank pain.
