Pediatric MSK Emergencies

WebPage_PedMSKEmergency physicians must understand the differences in the pediatric skeleton to properly diagnose and treat these injuries.  Children experience different orthopedic injury patterns than adults.  Their skeleton is immature and incompletely ossified and bones have growth plates that are susceptible to injury.  Children also are at risk for non-accidental trauma that may be hidden by the caregiver.
