Delirium is a sudden change in a patient’s level of consciousness due to a medical or toxicological event. It results in significant morbidity and mortality if not recognized early. This module will discuss the differential diagnosis for patients presenting to the ED with delirium, outline the diagnostic criteria for delirium, and review management strategies for the acutely confused patient.
