Congestive heart failure can present acutely to the ED or as part of a chronic condition in the primary care setting. One third of patients with severe disease die within a year of diagnosis. This module will discuss the primary causes of heart failure, review the precipitants for acute CHF, and outline diagnostic and management strategies.
